Musty or foul odour from the machine or carpet after cleaning
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Dirty water left in tank for extended periods, Damp brushbar and hoses stored without drying, Build-up of detergent residue, Contaminated filters
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before cleaning internal parts. Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Empty and sanitise tanks: Empty both clean and dirty water tanks. Wash them with warm soapy water, then rinse with a mild disinfectant solution (check compatibility with plastics). Rinse thoroughly and air dry.
- Clean brushbar and nozzle: Remove the brushbar and nozzle. Wash them in warm soapy water to remove residue and trapped dirt. Allow to dry completely before refitting.
- Flush hoses: Run warm water mixed with a small amount of VAX-approved cleaning solution through the hose and tools. Rinse with clean water and hang to dry.
- Dry filters: Wash washable filters and let them dry fully (24 hours) to prevent mould growth.
- Storage practice: Always store the VAX Platinum with tanks empty and components dry to prevent odour build-up.
