Possible Causes
Blown mains fuse on control PCB, Failed Vorwerk power supply module, Shorted motor drawing overcurrent, Damaged mains cable or plug
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Vorwerk carpet cleaner from the wall outlet before any inspection. Never work on a live appliance.
- Check the outlet and plug: Test the wall socket with another device. Inspect the Vorwerk plug and cable for cuts, kinks, or burn marks.
- Inspect the mains cable: If the cable is damaged or feels loose at the strain relief, discontinue use. The entire mains cable assembly must be replaced.
- Reset internal protection (if equipped): Some Vorwerk models have an internal thermal or electronic protection on the control board. Leave the unit unplugged for 30 minutes, then reconnect and test.
- Access the control board (advanced): Remove the housing screws, carefully lift the top cover, and locate the main control PCB. Check the onboard fuse for continuity with a multimeter. If blown, there is likely a shorted component (often the motor or power module) that must be diagnosed before replacing the fuse.
- When to stop: If you see burnt components on the PCB or smell burnt electronics, do not attempt further repair. The main control board and possibly the motor must be replaced by a qualified Vorwerk technician.
