Possible Causes

Partially seized brush motor, Shorted main suction motor, Faulty motor driver circuit on control board, Blocked airflow causing motor overload

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before opening any covers or accessing the brush area.

  • Check for blockages: Remove the recovery tank and suction hose. Inspect the suction path, nozzle, and hose for clogs (hair, carpet fibers, debris). Clear any obstructions and reassemble.
  • Inspect brush movement: With the unit unplugged, rotate the brush roller by hand. It should spin freely. If it is stiff or jammed, remove the brush module and clean hair and threads from the bearings and end caps.
  • Test again: Plug the cleaner back in and run it for a short test. If E02 reappears quickly, the motor may be drawing excessive current.
  • Advanced check: A technician can measure motor winding resistance and inspect the motor driver components on the control board. If the motor is noisy, smells burnt, or has visible sparking, it should be replaced.
