Possible Causes

Failed brush drive motor, Open-circuit brush motor wiring harness, Faulty brush motor relay on control PCB, Seized brush roller causing motor overload

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the cleaner before opening any panels.

  • Check for mechanical jam: Turn the unit over and inspect the Zanussi brush bar/roller. Remove hair, threads, and debris from the brush and end caps. Ensure the brush spins freely by hand.
  • Inspect drive belt (if belt-driven): Remove the bottom brush access plate. Check the brush drive belt for breakage, glazing, or stretching. Replace if loose or snapped.
  • Check wiring to brush motor: Follow the harness from the control PCB to the brush motor. Look for loose connectors, burnt pins, or damaged insulation. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • Test brush motor: With the motor removed and using a suitable DC/AC test supply (depending on model), briefly power the motor to confirm operation. If the motor does not spin or sparks excessively, replace the brush motor assembly.
  • Control PCB relay: If the motor and wiring are good, the brush motor relay on the main PCB may be faulty. Inspect for heat damage and replace the main control PCB if necessary.
