Possible Causes
Clogged filters restricting airflow, Blocked suction path, Failing suction motor drawing excess current, Faulty thermal sensor or thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug and allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before working on it.
- Clean filters: Locate the Zanussi pre-motor and exhaust filters (often behind a grille near the motor housing). Remove and wash foam filters in lukewarm water; allow to dry completely before refitting. Replace HEPA or paper filters if clogged.
- Check for blockages: Inspect hose, wand, floor head, and recovery tank inlet for lint, hair, or debris. Clear all obstructions thoroughly.
- Inspect cooling vents: Ensure all motor cooling vents on the body are free from dust buildup. Vacuum or brush them clean.
- Test operation: After cleaning and reassembly, run the unit and monitor for overheating. If it still shuts down quickly, the suction motor may be failing or the thermal sensor may be faulty.
- Replace thermal sensor or motor: Access the motor housing and locate the thermal cut-out or NTC sensor attached to the motor or housing. If it tests open at room temperature or trips prematurely, replace it. If the motor runs hot, smells, or has worn bearings, replace the suction motor assembly.
