Built-in grinder is extremely loud, squeals, or grinds unevenly.

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before working on the grinder.

• Inspect for foreign objects: Remove beans and check the burr area for stones or metal fragments. Remove any debris carefully.
• Clean burrs: Brush away old grounds and oils from the burrs and surrounding area.
• Check burr seating: Ensure the removable burr (if applicable) is seated correctly and locked in place.
• Test with small amount of beans: Plug in and run a short grind. If squealing or metal-on-metal sounds persist, stop immediately.
• Replace burrs or grinder assembly: Severely worn or damaged burrs will need replacement. On many Calphalon models, this requires replacing the grinder assembly as a unit.
