Under-Extraction / Short Brew Time
Coffee tastes weak or watery even when using normal amounts of coffee.

Possible Causes
Too coarse grind, Too little coffee, Incorrect brew strength setting, Water bypassing grounds due to channeling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the machine to cool before adjusting internal components; most fixes here are user-level.
- Adjust grind: Use a medium grind suitable for drip coffee. If using a Calphalon grind-and-brew, set the grinder to a finer setting (but not espresso-fine).
- Increase coffee dose: Follow Calphalon’s scoop recommendations (typically 1–2 tablespoons per 6 oz of water) and adjust to taste.
- Check brew strength setting: If your model has a strength selector, choose a stronger setting to slow the flow and increase contact time.
- Level the grounds: After adding coffee to the basket, gently shake to level the bed so water distributes evenly.
- Descale if flow is too fast: In some cases, scale can alter flow patterns; descaling can normalize brew time.
