How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before opening the housing. Hot boiler surfaces can cause burns.
Steps to diagnose:
- 1. Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Sometimes the control board will clear a transient sensor error.
- 2. Access the boiler area: Remove the top cover to access the aluminum or stainless steel boiler/thermoblock. Locate the small probe or sensor (NTC) attached to the boiler with a clip or screw.
- 3. Check the connector: Ensure the NTC sensor plug is fully seated on the boiler and on the main control board. Clean any oxidation with contact cleaner and reconnect.
- 4. Test the sensor (advanced): With a multimeter set to resistance, measure the NTC sensor at room temperature. Typical values are between 5–100 kΩ depending on the design. An open circuit (OL) or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
- 5. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires from the boiler to the board. Look for pinched, melted, or broken insulation. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
Resolution: If the NTC is out of specification or open/shorted, replace it with an Electrolux-compatible boiler temperature sensor. If the sensor and wiring are good but E02 remains, the main control board may need replacement.
