Possible Causes

Dry heating (no water in reservoir), Failed thermostat or thermal fuse on heating plate, Limescale buildup on heating element, Faulty temperature sensor (NTC) on heater

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before touching the warming plate or internal areas.

  • Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled above the minimum line. Running the unit dry can trigger E2.
  • Descale the system: Fill the reservoir with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water. Run a brew cycle (without coffee) until half the reservoir is empty, then stop and let it sit 20 minutes. Resume and finish the cycle, then run 2–3 full cycles of clean water to rinse.
  • Inspect for blockages: If accessible, check the water inlet screen and the outlet at the bottom of the reservoir for clogs. Clean with a soft brush.
  • Check for repeated E2: If E2 appears again immediately after descaling and using adequate water, the thermostat, thermal fuse, or NTC sensor on the heating element may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
