Possible Causes

Brew basket not fully inserted, Drip-stop lever stuck, Faulty lid-closed microswitch, Misaligned basket sensor tab

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before reaching into the brew basket area.

  • Reseat the brew basket: Remove the filter basket and reinstall it, ensuring it is fully pushed in and level. Check that the drip-stop mechanism moves freely.
  • Check the lid: Close the top lid firmly until you hear or feel a click. Some Farberware models will not brew unless the lid presses a small switch.
  • Clean the drip-stop: Coffee residue can cause the spring-loaded drip-stop to stick. Wash the basket and drip-stop with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry.
  • Inspect the switch (advanced): With the unit unplugged, locate the small plastic tab or switch that the lid presses. Ensure it is not broken or bent. If the microswitch fails to click or shows no continuity when pressed, it should be replaced.
