Possible Causes
Coffee beans jammed in grinder, Grinder motor overheated, Broken grinder drive gear, Faulty grinder motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow the grinder to cool for 20–30 minutes before working on it.
- Empty the bean hopper: Remove all beans from the hopper. Check for foreign objects (stones, hard debris) and discard.
- Clear the grinder chute: Remove the grinder cover (if accessible) and use a small brush to clear compacted grounds from the burrs and chute.
- Manual rotation: If possible, gently rotate the grinder burr or shaft by hand to free any jam. Do not force it.
- Test after cooling: Once cleared and cooled, plug in and run a grind-only cycle. If the motor hums but does not turn, or E8 returns, the grinder motor or drive gear may need replacement.
