Jura
Under-Extraction / Incorrect Coffee Dose
Coffee is weak or watery even on the strongest setting
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Grinder set too coarse, Worn grinder burrs reducing fine particles, Low coffee dose setting in programming, Brew group screen clogged causing channeling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the machine off before adjusting internal components. Do not insert fingers into the grinder.
Step 1 – Adjust grinder:
- While the grinder is running during a coffee preparation, turn the grind adjustment knob one step finer (toward 'fine').
- Make small adjustments and test after 2–3 cups.
Step 2 – Increase strength setting:
- Use the machine menu to select a higher coffee strength or aroma level.
- Ensure the volume (ml/oz) is not set excessively high for a single shot.
Step 3 – Clean brew group and screen:
- Remove and rinse the brew group (if user-removable).
- Use a Jura cleaning tablet cycle to remove coffee oils from the brew chamber and screen.
Step 4 – Service grinder (advanced):
- If coffee remains weak even at fine settings, the burrs may be worn.
- Have the grinder burrs replaced or the grinder assembly serviced by a Jura technician.
