Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before opening. Hot internal parts can cause burns.
Step 1 – Power reset:
- Turn the machine off with the main switch and unplug it for 5–10 minutes.
- Plug it back in and power on to see if the error clears. Transient sensor faults sometimes reset.
Step 2 – Check ventilation and scaling:
- Ensure the machine has adequate ventilation around it; blocked vents can cause overheating.
- If the machine is heavily scaled, run a full descaling cycle (if accessible) once the error clears; scale can cause localized overheating.
Step 3 – Inspect thermoblock sensor (advanced):
- Remove the outer housing (unplug first).
- Locate the thermoblock assembly; the NTC sensor is usually clipped or screwed onto the thermoblock with two small wires leading to the main board.
- Check for broken wires, loose connectors, or corrosion at the sensor plug.
- Reseat the connector firmly.
Step 4 – Replace faulty parts:
- If the sensor is physically damaged or tests open/short with a multimeter, replace the NTC temperature sensor.
- If a known-good sensor still triggers Error 1, the main control board may have a defective temperature input circuit and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
