Possible Causes
Faulty brew group position microswitch, Misaligned brew group causing sensor not to trigger, Broken wiring to position sensor, Defective main control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before working near the brew mechanism.
Step 1 – Reseat the brew group:
- Remove the drip tray and grounds container.
- Remove the brew group (if user-removable), then reinstall it carefully, ensuring it locks fully into place.
- Check that the service door closes completely.
Step 2 – Clear debris:
- Inspect the brew group tracks and surrounding area for coffee buildup.
- Clean with a brush and vacuum to ensure the group can move freely.
Step 3 – Reset the machine:
- Plug the machine back in and power on; allow it to attempt its initialization.
Step 4 – Advanced sensor checks:
- With the housing removed (unplug first), locate the brew group position microswitch or optical sensor.
- Check that the actuator on the brew group actually reaches and triggers the sensor.
- Test the microswitch with a multimeter for proper open/close operation.
Step 5 – Replace faulty parts:
- Replace a defective microswitch or optical sensor.
- If the brew group frame is warped and no longer aligns with the sensor, replace the brew group assembly.
- If the sensor signal does not reach the board, the wiring harness or main control board may need replacement.
