Display shows “Fill system” and machine will not brew or rinse; pump runs loudly but no water comes through the coffee spouts.

Safety first: Switch the machine off with the main power switch and unplug it before removing any covers. Never run the pump dry for long periods.

Step 1 – Check water tank and filter:

• Remove the water tank, empty and rinse it thoroughly.
• If a CLARIS filter cartridge is installed, remove it and try operating the machine without the filter. A clogged filter is a common cause.
• Refill the tank with fresh, cold water and ensure it is seated fully so the outlet valve at the bottom opens correctly.

Step 2 – Bleed the system:

• Power the machine on and follow the on-screen prompt for “Fill system”.
• Open the hot-water/steam tap (if present) and allow the pump to run until a steady stream of water flows. Close the tap when the flow is stable.
• Repeat this 2–3 times if necessary to purge air from the lines.

Step 3 – Check for kinks or blockages (advanced):

• Unplug the machine and remove the water tank.
• Inspect the tank outlet valve for debris or scale; clean it and the tank connection on the machine.
• If you are comfortable opening the housing, check the silicone hose from the tank connector to the ULKA pump for kinks, pinches, or scale buildup.

Step 4 – Evaluate the pump:

• If the pump is very loud and no water moves even with a clear hose and no filter, the ULKA pump may be worn or seized.
• In that case, replacement of the pump is recommended; this involves opening the machine and disconnecting mains wiring, so many users should contact a Jura-authorized technician.
