Possible Causes

Water tank not seated correctly, Water level sensor dirty or scaled, Tank magnet or float defective, Reed switch on base PCB faulty

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool completely before opening any covers.

This error usually means the machine does not detect the water tank correctly.

  • Check tank seating: Remove the water tank, rinse it, and firmly reseat it. Make sure it clicks into place and sits flat on the base.
  • Clean level float and magnet: If your Severin tank has a floating indicator, remove any scale or coffee residue around the float using warm water and a soft brush. Ensure the float moves freely up and down.
  • Descale sensor area: Wipe the underside of the tank and the contact area on the machine with a cloth soaked in a mild descaler solution, then wipe dry.
  • Test with full tank: Fill the tank to the MAX mark and try again. Low water level can sometimes trigger E01.
  • If error persists: The reed switch or water level sensor on the main PCB may be faulty. At this point, replacement of the sensor assembly or PCB is required and is best done by a qualified technician.
