Possible Causes
Blocked cooling vents on motor housing, Internal cooling path clogged with dust, Failed internal cooling fan (if separate), Overheating sensor triggering prematurely
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum, remove the battery (if possible), and disconnect from charger. Allow the unit to cool before inspection.
- Step 1 – Inspect vents: Check all air intake and exhaust vents on the AEG handheld unit. Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove lint and dust buildup.
- Step 2 – Clean internal filters and cyclone: Remove and clean the dust container, cyclone, and filters to ensure unrestricted airflow through the motor.
- Step 3 – Avoid covering vents: Ensure your hand or accessories are not blocking vents during use.
- Step 4 – Test after cooling: After cleaning and allowing the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes, run the vacuum on low power. If E16 no longer appears, the issue was overheating due to restricted airflow.
- Step 5 – Persistent E16: The internal cooling fan (if fitted) or temperature sensor may be faulty. This requires disassembly and repair by an AEG technician.
