Possible Causes

Battery pack overheating due to blocked airflow, Failed battery temperature sensor (NTC), Using vacuum in very hot environment, Faulty battery management PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove it from the charger. If the battery is removable, detach it before inspection. Allow hot components to cool before handling.

  • Step 1 – Allow cooling: If the vacuum feels warm or hot, leave it switched off in a cool, dry room for at least 30–60 minutes. Do not place it in a fridge or freezer.
  • Step 2 – Check filters and airflow: Remove the dust container and all filters (pre-motor and exhaust/HEPA). Tap off dust outdoors and clean according to the AEG manual. Blocked filters can cause the motor and battery to overheat.
  • Step 3 – Inspect vents: Check all air inlets and outlets on the motor unit and floor nozzle. Remove hair, fluff, or debris that may restrict airflow.
  • Step 4 – Test in normal conditions: Reassemble and run the vacuum on a lower power setting in a cool room. If E2 reappears within a minute, the battery temperature sensor or battery pack may be defective.
  • Step 5 – Try another battery (if applicable): If your AEG cordless vacuum uses a removable battery, test with a second compatible AEG battery. If the fault disappears, replace the original battery pack.
  • Step 6 – Persistent E2: If the error persists with a known-good battery, the main control PCB may be misreading temperature. Contact an AEG service center; internal electronics should not be serviced by the user.
