Possible Causes

Brush roll jammed by hair or debris, Blocked air path causing motor overload, Failing motor bearings in the AEG motor unit, Shorted motor windings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum and remove it from the charger. Detach all accessories and, if possible, remove the battery pack.

  • Step 1 – Check for blockages: Remove the dust container and inspect the air path from the nozzle to the cyclone and up to the motor inlet. Clear any clogs using a long, non-metallic tool.
  • Step 2 – Inspect brush roll: Detach the motorised floor nozzle. Open the brush roll cover (usually a latch or coin slot). Remove the brush roll and cut away hair, threads, and wrapped debris with scissors, taking care not to cut bristles.
  • Step 3 – Check brush roll bearings: Spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate freely. If it feels rough, seized, or melted at the end caps, the brush roll assembly should be replaced.
  • Step 4 – Inspect nozzle air channel: Look through the nozzle neck and internal channels for blockages. Remove any compacted dust or objects.
  • Step 5 – Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll and nozzle, ensuring all covers click securely. Start the vacuum on low power first. If E3 no longer appears, the issue was a blockage.
  • Step 6 – If E3 persists with clear airflow: The main suction motor in the AEG handheld unit may be drawing excessive current due to worn brushes or failing bearings. At this stage, motor replacement or main unit service is required by a technician.
