Possible Causes
Brush roll tangled with hair or string, Foreign object stuck in floor nozzle, Failed brush motor in AEG Power Roller/Power Brush, Damaged brush drive belt or gear train
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove the battery or disconnect from charger. Do not work on the nozzle while it is powered.
- Step 1 – Remove the nozzle: Detach the motorised floor nozzle from the handheld unit or extension tube.
- Step 2 – Open brush housing: Release the brush cover using the latch or coin slot. Carefully lift out the brush roll.
- Step 3 – Clear tangles: Use scissors to cut away hair, threads, and fibres from the brush roll and end caps. Remove any debris from the side bearings and drive end.
- Step 4 – Inspect for obstructions: Look inside the nozzle cavity and suction channel for coins, toys, or large debris. Remove anything lodged in the air path or near the brush motor.
- Step 5 – Check brush rotation: Spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate smoothly. If it binds or the end caps are melted or cracked, replace the brush roll assembly.
- Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll and close the cover securely. Reattach the nozzle and test on a low power setting. If E4 no longer appears, the jam was resolved.
- Step 7 – Persistent E4: If the error returns immediately and the brush roll does not turn even when free, the brush motor or internal wiring in the AEG motorised nozzle is likely faulty. Replace the complete motorised floor nozzle or have it serviced.
