Possible Causes
Defective AEG charging adapter, Damaged charging stand PCB, Broken or bent charging contacts, Internal battery pack protection circuit open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the charger from the mains before inspecting. Do not open the charger or battery pack casing.
- Step 1 – Verify mains outlet: Test the wall socket with another appliance. Avoid using extension leads or multi-plugs during diagnosis.
- Step 2 – Inspect charger and stand: Check the AEG charger cable for cuts, kinks, or burn marks. Inspect the charging stand or wall mount for cracks or signs of overheating.
- Step 3 – Clean contacts: On both the vacuum/battery and the stand, gently clean the metal contacts with a dry cloth. If oxidised, use a cotton swab with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol and let dry fully.
- Step 4 – Reseat the vacuum: Place the vacuum carefully on the stand, ensuring it is fully seated and aligned. Watch for the charging LED to illuminate steadily (not flashing error).
- Step 5 – Try another charger (if available): Use a compatible original AEG charger of the same voltage and connector type. If charging works with the second charger, replace the original charger or stand.
- Step 6 – If E5 persists with known-good charger: The battery pack protection circuit or internal wiring may be open. The battery pack or main PCB will require professional replacement by an AEG service center.
