Possible Causes
Clogged pre-motor filter, Blocked cyclone assembly, Overfilled dust container, Blocked extension tube or nozzle neck
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove it from the charger. Avoid inhaling dust while cleaning filters.
- Step 1 – Empty the dust container: Remove the bin from the AEG handheld unit and empty it into a rubbish bag. Tap gently to dislodge compacted dust.
- Step 2 – Clean cyclone and mesh: Remove the internal cyclone and metal/plastic mesh screen. Brush off dust with a soft brush. If washable, rinse under lukewarm water and allow to dry completely (at least 24 hours).
- Step 3 – Clean pre-motor filter: Remove the foam or fabric pre-motor filter. Tap off dust outdoors. If the manual allows, wash with mild soap and water, then air-dry fully before refitting.
- Step 4 – Check exhaust/HEPA filter: Remove the rear HEPA or exhaust filter. If heavily clogged or discoloured, replace it with a genuine AEG filter. Some HEPA filters are not washable—follow the model-specific instructions.
- Step 5 – Inspect tubes and nozzles: Look through the extension tube and nozzle neck for blockages. Use a long, flexible brush to clear any obstructions.
- Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Once all components are completely dry and reinstalled, run the vacuum. If E6 no longer appears, the restriction was resolved.
- Step 7 – Persistent E6 with clean filters: The airflow sensor or pressure switch on the main PCB may be faulty. This requires diagnosis and replacement by an AEG technician.
