Possible Causes
Aged Li-ion cells with high internal resistance, Cell voltage imbalance detected by BMS, Battery pack stored fully discharged, Internal battery pack connector damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to open the battery pack. Damaged Li-ion cells can be hazardous.
- Step 1 – Attempt recovery charge: Place the vacuum on the AEG charger or stand and leave it connected for at least 6–8 hours, even if the LEDs show an error initially. Some packs slowly rebalance.
- Step 2 – Check ambient temperature: Charge the vacuum in a room between 10–30°C. Extreme cold or heat can prevent proper charging.
- Step 3 – Inspect for physical damage: Look for swelling, cracks, or deformation of the battery housing. If present, stop using the vacuum immediately and contact a recycling facility or service center.
- Step 4 – Test operation: After extended charging, remove from the stand and attempt to start. If E8 persists, the pack is likely beyond recovery.
- Step 5 – Replace battery pack: For removable-battery AEG models, purchase a genuine replacement battery pack specified for your model. Install according to the user manual.
- Step 6 – Fixed-battery models: If the battery is built-in, the entire battery module must be replaced by an authorised AEG technician. Do not attempt to open the housing yourself.
