Possible Causes
Using non-original charger with incorrect voltage, Faulty AEG charger outputting too high voltage, Battery management system detecting unsafe condition, Internal BMS failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the charger immediately if you suspect overvoltage. Do not continue charging a battery that reports E9.
- Step 1 – Confirm charger model: Check that the charger or stand is the original AEG unit supplied with the vacuum or an approved replacement. Verify the voltage and current ratings on the label match the user manual.
- Step 2 – Try another outlet: Plug the charger into a different wall socket to rule out supply issues.
- Step 3 – Inspect charger for damage: Look for burn marks, melted plastic, or a burnt smell. If present, stop using the charger and replace it.
- Step 4 – Test with a known-good AEG charger: If available, use another compatible AEG charger/stand. If charging works normally, discard the faulty charger.
- Step 5 – If E9 persists with correct charger: The battery pack’s BMS may be misreading voltage or has failed. Do not attempt to bypass it. Arrange for battery pack replacement via an AEG service center.
