How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove the battery pack before working on the motorized floor head.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Remove the brush roll: Flip the floor head over. Release the brush roll cover (usually via clips or a coin-slot screw). Lift out the brush roll.
- 2. Clear all debris: Cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the brush roll with scissors. Pay special attention to the ends near the bearings. Do not cut the bristles.
- 3. Check brush roll bearings: Spin each end of the brush roll by hand. It should rotate freely. If it feels gritty, stiff, or seized, the end caps/bearings may need replacement.
- 4. Inspect the brush motor area: Look inside the floor head where the brush roll sits. Remove any debris around the drive gear or belt (if present). Ensure nothing is obstructing the motor shaft.
- 5. Reassemble and test: Reinstall the brush roll and cover. Reattach the head to the wand, reinstall the battery, and power on. Toggle the brush on/off switch (if available) and observe whether the brush now spins.
When to stop: If the brush still does not spin and E4 persists, the brush motor or internal wiring in the floor head is likely faulty. The motorized head can often be replaced as a complete assembly, which is easier than motor-only repair.
