Battery Pack Overvoltage / Charger Fault
Battery indicator flashes rapidly while charging; vacuum will not accept charge

Possible Causes
Defective Amazon Basics charger, Battery pack cell imbalance detected by BMS, Incorrect or third-party charger with wrong voltage, Damaged charge port on vacuum body
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the charger from the wall before inspecting connectors. Do not use damaged or swollen batteries.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Verify correct charger: Confirm that the charger is the original Amazon Basics model specified for your cordless vacuum (check voltage and amperage on the label). Using an incompatible charger can trigger E5.
- 2. Inspect charger cable and plug: Look for cuts, kinks, or exposed wires. Check the barrel plug or slide contacts for bending or burn marks. Do not use a damaged charger.
- 3. Check the charge port: On models that charge through a port on the vacuum body, inspect the port for dust, bent pins, or looseness. Clean gently with a dry brush; do not insert metal tools.
- 4. Cool the battery: If the pack is warm from recent use, let it cool to room temperature for 30–60 minutes, then attempt charging again. The BMS may block charging when the pack is too hot.
- 5. Try a different outlet: Plug the charger into another known-good outlet (avoid power strips with surge issues). Observe the charger LED behavior with the battery connected.
When to stop: If E5 persists with a known-good charger and cool battery, the battery pack’s internal protection circuit may be damaged. Replace the battery pack; do not attempt to open or repair the pack yourself.
