Vacuum makes loud grinding or rattling noise from the brush head

Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum, remove the battery, and detach the floor head before working on it.

Step-by-step checks:

• 1. Remove brush roll: Open the brush roll cover and lift out the brush roll.
• 2. Spin bearings by hand: Rotate each end of the brush roll. Grinding, roughness, or wobble indicates bearing damage.
• 3. Clean bearing area: Remove hair and debris from around the end caps. Sometimes debris inside the bearing housing causes noise.
• 4. Inspect drive gear: Look at the gear or drive socket on the brush roll and inside the head. Worn or missing teeth can cause rattling.

When to stop: If noise persists after cleaning, replace the brush roll assembly or the entire motorized head if individual parts are not available.
