Possible Causes
Defective external charger or charging base, Dirty or bent charging contacts on battery or base, Failed charging IC on battery BMS board, Open circuit in charging cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the charger from the wall before cleaning contacts or inspecting the base.
- Step 1 – Check power outlet: Plug another device (like a lamp) into the same outlet to confirm it has power.
- Step 2 – Inspect charging contacts: On the base and on the vacuum/battery, inspect the metal contacts. Clean with a dry cloth. If there is visible corrosion, lightly clean with isopropyl alcohol and let dry.
- Step 3 – Verify charger LED: Plug the Cecotec charger into the wall and then into the base or battery. Observe the charger LED. If it does not light or blinks abnormally, the charger may be faulty.
- Step 4 – Direct charging (if supported): Some Cecotec cordless vacuums allow direct charging of the battery pack. Try connecting the charger directly to the battery to bypass the base.
If E5 remains and the charger is confirmed good, the internal charging electronics in the battery pack or main body are likely defective. Replace the charger first (low cost), then the battery pack if needed.
