Possible Causes

Brush motor jammed by debris, Worn carbon brushes in brush motor (if applicable), Seized brushroll bearings, Shorted brush motor in floor head

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery and detach the motorized floor head before working on it.

  • Step 1 – Remove brushroll: Open the floor head cover and take out the brushroll. Clean all hair and fibers from the bristles and end caps.
  • Step 2 – Check brush motor shaft: With the brushroll removed, gently spin the small drive gear or shaft from the motor with your fingers. It should turn smoothly. If it is stiff or locked, the motor is likely damaged.
  • Step 3 – Inspect belt or gear drive: Some Cecotec heads use a belt or gear train. Check for broken teeth or a melted belt. Replace the head if the drive system is damaged.
  • Step 4 – Test without load: Reconnect the head (without the brushroll installed), reinstall the battery, and briefly power on. If the motor still does not spin and E8 appears, the motor or PCB is faulty.

Brush motor replacement inside the head is possible but intricate. Most users should replace the complete motorized floor head assembly.
