Possible Causes
Defective Clatronic mains charger, Damaged DC charging jack on vacuum, Broken charging cradle contacts, Faulty charge control circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the charger from the wall before inspecting connectors. Do not attempt to open the charger unless you are qualified.
- Step 1 – Outlet and charger test: Plug another device into the same outlet to confirm power. Then plug the Clatronic charger into a different outlet. If the charger LED never lights, replace the charger.
- Step 2 – Inspect charging port: Examine the DC jack on the vacuum or the contacts on the charging station for bent pins, corrosion, or dust. Clean gently with a dry brush. Ensure the plug fully seats with no wobble.
- Step 3 – Wiggle test: With the charger plugged into the vacuum, gently wiggle the connector. If the charging LED flickers, the jack is loose on the PCB and may need resoldering or replacement.
- Step 4 – Check for foreign objects: On models with docking stations, ensure no metal objects or debris are bridging the contacts.
- Step 5 – PCB repair or replacement: If a known-good charger still causes E5 and the jack is physically sound, the internal charge control circuit on the main PCB is likely defective. Replace the main control PCB or contact a service center.
