Possible Causes
Pre-motor filter clogged with fine dust, Filter not seated correctly in housing, Filter not washed regularly, Use in heavy plaster or construction dust
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the machine off and remove the battery (if removable) before any work. Never run the vacuum without filters installed.
- Remove the filter: On most Dyson cordless models (V6–V15, Omni-glide), twist and pull the pre-motor filter from the top of the cyclone or rear of the motor housing.
- Inspect for damage: Check for tears, collapsed foam, or hardened dust. If damaged, replace the filter with a genuine Dyson filter.
- Wash the filter: Rinse under cold running water only. Gently squeeze (do not twist hard) until water runs clear. Do not use detergents or hot water.
- Dry completely: Allow the filter to air-dry for at least 24 hours in a warm, well‑ventilated area. The filter must be completely dry before refitting to avoid motor damage.
- Reinstall and test: Push/twist the filter back into place until it seats firmly. Refit the battery, then test suction. If the warning persists, check for additional blockages in the wand, bin inlet, and cleaner head.
