Possible Causes

Clogged floor nozzle, Blocked wand or cyclone assembly, Shorted main suction motor, Faulty current-sense circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove the battery pack before clearing any blockages.

Steps to try:

  • Check for clogs: Detach the wand and floor nozzle from the main body. Look through the wand tube and nozzle neck for hair, dust clumps, or foreign objects. Use a broom handle or flexible brush to push out any blockage.
  • Inspect cyclone and dust cup: Remove the dust cup and cyclone assembly. Empty the bin and tap the cyclone gently to dislodge fine dust. Wash the dust cup with mild soap and water if allowed by the Eureka manual; let it dry completely before reassembly.
  • Examine brushroll: Remove the brushroll from the motorized floor head. Cut away hair and threads from the ends and bristles. Ensure the brushroll spins freely on its bearings.
  • Test without attachments: Reinstall the battery and run the vacuum with the wand and floor nozzle removed (just the main body). If it runs normally, the issue is in the nozzle or wand. If it still shuts off quickly, the main motor or control board may be drawing excessive current.
  • Check filters: A heavily clogged pre-motor filter can cause overload. Remove and clean the foam and felt filters as per the manual, then test again.
  • Escalation: If the vacuum continues to shut off within seconds even with all passages clear and clean filters, the main suction motor or PCB is likely failing and should be replaced.
