Possible Causes
Water or slurry inside motor compartment, Condensation on PCB, Corroded connectors due to wet use beyond rating, Shorted motor windings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery immediately. Do not attempt to run the vacuum while wet. Risk of electric shock and permanent damage.
- Do not open if under warranty: If the unit is still under Hilti warranty, do not disassemble. Contact Hilti service and report suspected water ingress.
- Drying (if out of warranty and minor exposure): Place the vacuum in a warm, dry, well-ventilated area for at least 24–48 hours. Do not use direct heat sources (no ovens, open flames, or heat guns).
- Check for visible moisture: If your model allows safe access to the filter compartment only, remove the filter and check for wet dust. Replace any wet filters.
- Do not bypass safety: Never bridge contacts or attempt to override moisture detection circuits.
- If E8 remains after thorough drying: Internal components (motor, PCB) are likely damaged and must be replaced by a qualified technician.
