Possible Causes
Shorted motor windings in main floorhead, Shorted main suction motor, Internal short in battery pack, Blocked brush bar causing motor stall
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove the battery before inspecting the floorhead or motor area.
- Check for brush bar jams: Remove the floorhead from the wand. Unlock the brush bar (usually a coin slot or latch on the side) and pull it out. Remove hair, string, and debris from the brush and end caps. Ensure the brush spins freely by hand.
- Inspect for melted plastic or burning smell: If the brush bar or end caps show heat damage, replace the brush bar assembly.
- Test without floorhead: Refit the battery and run the vacuum with only the handheld unit (no wand, no motorised tools). If it runs normally, the fault is in the floorhead or accessory motor.
- Test with non-powered tools: Attach a simple crevice tool. If the vacuum still trips with E2, the main suction motor or battery may be shorted.
- Replace suspect part: If E2 only occurs with the motorised floorhead, replace the Hoover H-Free motorised floorhead. If E2 occurs even with no tools attached, the main motor assembly or battery pack is likely faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
