Battery Pack Cell Imbalance / Internal Error
Battery LEDs flash in an alternating pattern, vacuum will not run after storage
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Battery stored fully discharged for long period, Internal BMS (battery management system) fault, One or more failed lithium-ion cells
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Never attempt to open the battery casing or bypass safety circuits.
- Attempt extended charge: Place the battery on the original charger and leave it connected for 6–8 hours, even if LEDs indicate a fault. Some packs can rebalance cells over time.
- Check ambient temperature: Charge at room temperature (15–25°C). Very cold or hot environments can prevent proper charging.
- Inspect contacts: Clean the battery and charger contacts with a dry cloth to ensure good connection.
- Retest: After extended charging, refit the battery and try to run the vacuum. If the alternating LED pattern persists and the unit will not start, the battery pack is defective.
- Replace battery pack: Purchase a genuine Hoover H-Free replacement battery pack. Dispose of the old pack at an approved battery recycling point.
