Possible Causes
Pre-motor filter missing, Filter not seated correctly, Damaged filter presence switch or sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Remove the battery before opening the dust bin or filter housing.
- Check filter presence: Open the dust container and confirm the pre-motor filter is installed in the correct orientation. Many H-Free models will not run without this filter.
- Seat filter correctly: Ensure the filter is fully pushed into its recess and the cover is properly latched.
- Inspect filter housing: Look for broken plastic tabs or misaligned parts that might prevent the filter from engaging the sensor.
- Test operation: Refit the battery and try to start the vacuum. If F1 persists with a correctly installed filter, the filter sensor or microswitch may be faulty.
- Replace filter housing or sensor: If available as a spare, replace the Hoover H-Free filter housing or contact a service centre to replace the sensor assembly.
