Possible Causes

Depleted lithium‑ion battery pack, Failed battery protection (BMS) board, Loose battery connector to main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Power the unit OFF and remove the battery pack from the vacuum before any inspection. Do not short battery terminals.

  • Check battery charge: Place the Insignia battery pack on its original charger. Confirm the charger LED indicates charging and then full charge. If the charger LED blinks an error or never turns solid, the battery may be faulty.
  • Inspect battery contacts: With the battery removed, inspect the metal contacts on both the battery and the vacuum handle/base. Clean light oxidation with a dry cloth; do not use liquids. Ensure there is no melting or burn marks.
  • Reseat the battery: Reinstall the battery firmly until it clicks. A loose fit can trigger undervoltage errors.
  • Test again: After a full charge (3–4 hours typically), reinstall and power on. If E1 persists with a known-good charger and outlet, the battery pack or its internal BMS is likely defective.
  • When to stop: If the battery becomes hot, swollen, or emits odor, discontinue use immediately and replace the battery pack. Do not attempt to open the battery casing.
