Possible Causes
Dust bin not fully latched, Broken bin interlock tab, Faulty bin presence microswitch, Misaligned bin seal preventing engagement
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before inspecting the bin latch area.
- Reseat the dust bin: Remove the bin completely and reinstall it, ensuring it clicks firmly into place. Check that the release button is not stuck.
- Inspect latch and tabs: Look for cracked or missing plastic tabs on the bin that actuate the safety switch. If broken, the bin may not press the switch fully.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure no debris is caught around the bin latch or switch area.
- Test switch (advanced): With the battery removed, gently press the switch lever (if visible) with a non‑metallic tool while the bin is off, then reinstall the battery and test. If the vacuum runs only when the switch is manually pressed, the bin or switch needs replacement.
