Possible Causes

Worn motor bearings, Shorted motor windings, Obstructed motor fan, Faulty motor driver on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery and wait for all LEDs to go off before disassembly. Do not touch internal capacitors on the PCB.

  • Check for blockages first: Ensure filters, cyclone, wand, and floor head are clear. A severe blockage can mimic a motor fault.
  • Listen to the motor: With all accessories removed, briefly power on. A grinding, squealing, or no-spin condition with E4 strongly indicates motor failure.
  • Inspect for burning smell: If you smell burnt plastic or electrical odor, stop using the vacuum immediately.
  • Disassemble body: Remove screws on the main body housing as per service guide. Separate the shell to access the Main Motor Assembly.
  • Check fan area: Inspect the motor fan for debris or broken blades. Remove any foreign objects.
  • Replace motor module: If the motor shaft is stiff or has play, replace the entire Main Motor Assembly (motor + fan module) rather than attempting to repair the motor.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit all seals and gaskets to prevent air leaks. Test on low power first.
