Possible Causes
Hair or threads wrapped around brush roll, jammed brush bearings, foreign object stuck in floor nozzle, faulty brush motor in motorized floor head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the vacuum and remove the battery pack before working on the floor nozzle or brush roll. Keep fingers away from the brush motor area.
- Step 1 – Remove the floor nozzle: Detach the motorized floor head from the suction tube or handheld unit.
- Step 2 – Access the brush roll: On most Severin cordless models, the brush roll can be removed by releasing a side cap or unlocking a bottom cover. Refer to your user manual for the exact mechanism.
- Step 3 – Clear hair and debris: Carefully cut away hair, threads, and fibers wrapped around the brush roll using scissors. Remove any objects lodged in the nozzle air path. Check both ends of the brush roll for tangled debris around the bearings.
- Step 4 – Check brush rotation: Spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding or sticking. If it is stiff or seized, the brush roll or end bearings may need replacement.
- Step 5 – Inspect electrical connector: Check the electrical plug between the floor nozzle and the tube/handheld unit for bent pins or damage. Clean gently with a dry cloth.
- Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll and nozzle, reinstall the battery, and test on low power. If E5 persists with a clean, freely rotating brush, the brush motor or nozzle PCB is likely faulty and the complete motorized floor head should be replaced.
