Possible Causes
Defective power mode button on handle, damaged ribbon cable between handle and motor unit, faulty main control PCB, moisture ingress in control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack before inspecting the handle or control panel. Do not open sealed electronic modules unless you are qualified.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Remove the battery for 1–2 minutes, then reinstall it and try switching modes again. Sometimes a simple reset clears a temporary logic error.
- Step 2 – Inspect buttons: Check the power and turbo buttons for sticking, physical damage, or contamination (spilled liquids, dust). Wipe the exterior with a slightly damp cloth (unit powered off and battery removed) and dry thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Check for moisture: If the vacuum was recently used in a very humid environment or exposed to liquids, allow it to dry in a warm, ventilated area for 24 hours with the battery removed.
- Step 4 – Test other functions: Confirm that the vacuum starts and stops reliably on low power. If only the mode change triggers E6, the issue is likely in the mode switch circuit or PCB.
- Step 5 – Service recommendation: Internal control boards and ribbon cables are not user-serviceable on most Severin cordless vacuums. If E6 persists, contact an authorized Severin service center for handle/control PCB replacement.
