Possible Causes

Defective NTC temperature sensor in battery pack, broken sensor wiring inside battery, faulty temperature sensing circuit in charger, battery pack stored in very hot or cold environment

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the charger from the mains before inspecting. Do not attempt to open the battery pack or charger housing.

  • Step 1 – Normalize temperature: If the battery or vacuum feels very cold or hot, move it to a room-temperature environment (around 20–25°C) and let it sit for at least 2 hours before attempting to charge again.
  • Step 2 – Clean contacts: Ensure the battery and docking station contacts are clean and dry. Wipe with a dry cloth. Moisture on contacts can affect sensor readings.
  • Step 3 – Try direct charging (if applicable): Some Severin cordless models allow direct plug-in charging. If available, try charging the battery directly to rule out a docking station fault.
  • Step 4 – Observe LED indicators: Place the battery on the charger and watch for any change in LED pattern. If E7 appears immediately and no charging occurs, the internal NTC sensor or charger sensing circuit is likely defective.
  • Step 5 – Do not bypass sensors: Never attempt to bypass the temperature sensor or modify the battery pack. This is a critical safety component. Replace the battery pack or charger through an authorized Severin service partner.
