Possible Causes

HEPA exhaust filter completely clogged, cyclone separator blocked with fine dust, dust container overfilled beyond MAX line, non-original filter material installed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery pack before opening the dust container or filter compartments.

  • Step 1 – Empty dust container: Remove the dust container and empty it fully. Tap gently to loosen compacted dust from the cyclone cone and walls.
  • Step 2 – Clean cyclone and channels: Inspect the cyclone separator and internal air channels for fine dust buildup. Use a soft brush to clean the perforations and passages. Do not use sharp tools that could damage the plastic.
  • Step 3 – Service HEPA filter: Remove the HEPA exhaust filter. If it is heavily grey or blocked, tap it gently to remove loose dust. If the filter is washable (check the Severin manual), rinse from the clean side to the dirty side with lukewarm water only. Allow to dry completely for at least 24 hours. If it is non-washable or damaged, replace it with a genuine Severin HEPA filter.
  • Step 4 – Check pre-motor filter: Clean or replace the pre-motor filter as recommended. A blocked pre-motor filter can also trigger E8.
  • Step 5 – Reassemble and test: Refit all filters correctly, ensuring seals are seated. Reinstall the battery and test suction. If E8 still appears with clean filters and an empty container, the airflow sensor or control PCB may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
