Possible Causes

Battery left uncharged for extended period, repeated use until automatic shutdown without recharging, defective battery cell group in Li-Ion pack, charger not supplying correct voltage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not attempt to jump-start or open the battery pack. Deeply discharged Li-Ion batteries can be unstable.

  • Step 1 – Inspect charger: Confirm that the Severin charger LED lights when plugged in without the battery. If there is no light, the charger may be faulty.
  • Step 2 – Attempt recovery charge: Place the battery on the original Severin charger and leave it connected for at least 30–60 minutes, even if no LEDs light initially. Some BMS systems require time to wake from deep discharge.
  • Step 3 – Check for warming: After 15–20 minutes, gently touch the battery. It should remain only slightly warm at most. If it becomes hot, unplug immediately and discontinue use.
  • Step 4 – Test in vacuum: After an hour of charging, insert the battery into the vacuum and attempt to power on. If E9 persists and the runtime is extremely short or zero, the battery cells are likely damaged.
  • Step 5 – Replace battery: Deeply discharged Li-Ion packs are usually not recoverable safely. Replace the battery pack with a genuine Severin replacement. Dispose of the old battery at an authorized recycling point.
