Possible Causes
Burned-out main motor winding, disconnected motor wiring harness, damaged motor brushes (on brushed designs), failed motor driver on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack. Do not run the vacuum repeatedly with F1, as this can stress the electronics.
- Step 1 – Basic reset: Remove the battery for 5 minutes, then reinstall and try again. If F1 appears immediately, proceed to inspection.
- Step 2 – Listen for motor attempt: When you press the power button, listen closely. If there is no motor sound at all (no hum, no spin-up), the motor circuit may be open.
- Step 3 – Check for burning smell: Smell the motor housing and exhaust area. A burnt odor suggests motor winding failure.
- Step 4 – Visual inspection: If you are comfortable and the design allows, remove the dust container and any accessible covers to visually inspect the motor area for signs of overheating, melted plastic, or loose wires. Do not disassemble sealed motor modules.
- Step 5 – Service recommendation: Main motor and driver electronics are not user-serviceable on Severin cordless vacuums. If F1 persists, the motor unit assembly or main PCB must be replaced by an authorized service center.
