Possible Causes
Defective tilt sensor in handle, loose internal wiring to safety switch, damaged handle PCB, mechanical damage from dropping the vacuum
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack before manipulating the handle or body.
- Step 1 – Check for physical damage: Inspect the handle and body for cracks or signs of impact. A strong drop can misalign or damage the tilt sensor.
- Step 2 – Test in different positions: With the battery installed, hold the vacuum upright and start it. Slowly tilt it forward and backward. If it shuts off at a specific angle and F5 appears, the tilt sensor is malfunctioning.
- Step 3 – Avoid rough handling: Until repaired, avoid sudden movements or carrying the vacuum by the tube only.
- Step 4 – Professional repair: Tilt sensors are mounted on the handle or main PCB and are not user-replaceable on most Severin models. Contact a service center for handle/PCB replacement.
