Possible Causes
Blocked airflow in dust cup or cyclone assembly, Severely clogged HEPA or post‑motor filter, Operating in MAX/Boost mode for extended periods with restricted airflow, Failing motor generating excess heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum, remove the battery, and allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before servicing.
- 1. Empty and clean the dust cup: Remove the dust cup and empty it completely. Wipe the inside with a dry cloth. Check the cyclone shroud for fine dust buildup and gently brush it clean.
- 2. Clean all filters: Remove pre‑motor foam/felt filters and the post‑motor HEPA filter (often located behind a grille near the exhaust). Tap them gently to remove dust. If your manual permits, rinse foam filters and HEPA under cool water until water runs clear. Do not use soap. Allow all filters to air‑dry for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
- 3. Inspect air paths: Check the intake at the handle, the wand, and the floor nozzle for any obstructions. Even partial blockages can cause overheating. Remove any debris you find.
- 4. Avoid prolonged MAX/Boost use: After cleaning, test the vacuum in normal mode first. Use MAX/Boost only when necessary and for short bursts, especially on thick carpets.
- 5. Evaluate motor condition: If the vacuum still overheats quickly with clean filters and clear airflow, the motor windings or bearings may be failing and drawing excess current. Continued use can cause permanent damage. Contact a service center or replace the main motor assembly.
