Possible Causes
Internal lithium‑ion cell failure, Battery management system (BMS) fault inside battery, Deeply discharged battery below safe voltage, Water or impact damage to battery pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the battery is swollen, leaking, or has a burnt smell, do not attempt to charge it. Place it in a fire‑safe area and contact local recycling or Shark support for disposal instructions.
- 1. Inspect the battery physically: Remove the battery and check for cracks, swelling, or signs of impact. Do not use a damaged battery.
- 2. Confirm charger operation: Plug the charger into a known‑good outlet. If possible, test the charger with another Shark battery. If the charger fails with multiple batteries, replace the charger.
- 3. Reseat the battery: Place the battery on the charger, ensuring it is fully seated. Wiggle gently to confirm solid contact. Watch the LED pattern for at least 30 seconds.
- 4. Attempt recovery charge (if allowed by manufacturer): Leave the battery on the charger for 30–60 minutes even if the error flashes, as some BMS circuits will attempt to rebalance cells. If the error persists and the battery never begins normal charging, discontinue use.
- 5. Replace the battery pack: An E6‑type persistent error usually indicates an internal cell or BMS failure that is not user‑serviceable. Replace the battery with a genuine Shark replacement designed for your model.
