Possible Causes

Misaligned contacts between vacuum and dock, Dirty or oxidized dock contacts, Failed dock power supply, Internal dock PCB failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dock from the wall outlet before cleaning contacts or inspecting the base.

  • 1. Verify dock power: Plug the dock directly into a wall outlet. Check for any power indicator on the dock (if present). Test the outlet with another device to confirm it has power.
  • 2. Clean charging contacts: On the dock and the vacuum, locate the metal charging contacts. Wipe them gently with a dry cloth. For light oxidation, use a pencil eraser and then wipe clean. Do not use liquids.
  • 3. Check alignment: Place the vacuum on the dock and ensure it sits fully and evenly. You should feel it settle into place. If the wall mount is loose or bent, tighten mounting screws and realign.
  • 4. Bypass the dock (if possible): Some Shark models allow direct battery charging with a plug‑in charger. If available, remove the battery and charge it directly. If direct charging works but dock charging does not, the dock is likely faulty.
  • 5. Replace the dock: If cleaning and realignment do not restore charging and the dock has confirmed power, replace the docking station/charging base with a compatible Shark part.
