Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch the vacuum OFF, remove the battery pack from the handle, and disconnect the charger from the mains before inspecting anything.
- 1. Check battery charge: Press the battery fuel gauge button (if fitted). If no LEDs light, place the battery on the original Swan charger for at least 3–4 hours. Ensure the charger LED comes on and stays solid or blinking as per the user manual.
- 2. Inspect battery contacts: Look at the metal terminals on both the battery pack and the vacuum handle. Clean any dust or light corrosion with a dry cloth. Do not use liquids. Make sure the pack clicks firmly into place.
- 3. Reset protection: Remove the battery from the vacuum, unplug the charger from the wall, wait 5 minutes, then plug the charger back in and dock the battery. Allow it to charge fully, then refit to the vacuum and try again.
- 4. Try another outlet/charger: If available, test with a different mains outlet. If you have another compatible Swan charger, try it to rule out a faulty charger.
- 5. Replace battery pack: If the E1 condition persists and the battery never shows charge or the vacuum still won’t power on, the internal BMS or cells are likely faulty. Replace the complete Swan cordless vacuum lithium battery pack. Do not attempt to open the battery pack housing.
If you smell burning, see swelling, or the pack becomes very hot, stop using it immediately and contact a service centre.
